Interactions with living territories - Projet clôturé

Territorial conflicts are multiplying in Bolivia. This is due, among other things, to the authoritarian way in which the state is considering changes and maintaining a development model based on the exploitation of non-renewable resources. The legal framework is evolving, however, which offers some opportunities – for example the development of local territorial plans.

Our action

The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of community organizations and peasant families in the exercise their right to manage their territory, to manage their natural resources, and to receive decent incomes.

On the one hand, local territorial management actions are implemented through training, development, and implementation of land-use plans, actions related to agroecology (including a family agroecological school ), natural resource management, healthy eating, and rural entrepreneurship.

On the other hand, concerted action, dialogue and advocacy for the rights of peasant families are carried out at national level with Belgian NGOs, Bolivian organizations and the public sector.

Lastly, specific gender-related actions are carried out via a specialized local partner. REMTE Bolivia is currently conducting a study on the contribution of women and men to family incomes (monetary, working hours) and their distribution. On the basis of the results, actions will be implemented for a better balance both in contribution and distribution.

In all actions, special attention is given to knowledge management (construction, exchange, capitalization and dissemination of knowledge, research, etc.).
